We Are Human

(pinch wrist) Ouch!

I can feel

I am a human, we are human, we are real

(hold heart) Ouch!

I can feel

I am a human, we are human, we are real

(talk to audience) Do you feel? Do I feel?

I feel the pain in people, but only the pain that is in me

I feel the lonely souls, for no one can be lonelier than me

I feel the doubt in people, for I cannot remember someone being really there for me

I feel the lack of love, for I have long lacked the love I need

I guess I am meant to be there for the people, even if the people aren’t there for me

I am meant to be there for the people, only in the ways I wish they were there for me

(talk to audience) Do you feel? Do I feel?

I don’t feel

I don’t feel the pain of people, dying every day

The pain of losing a father, a mother

The pain of losing a wife, a husband, a son, a daughter

The pain of losing a sister, a brother

To think that yesterday was their last day

I don’t feel

I don’t feel the pain of people, not knowing if they will survive their day

The pain of begging, not begging

The pain aching to the bone from the cold breeze of winters

The pain of saying: son, maybe another day

To all the people I see around me, I say, I love you, I truly do, in my own unique way

I am a human, we are human, we are real (pinch wrist) Ouch
